The protests by the members of Kapu Aikya Garjana took a violent turn in Tuni. After attacking Ratnachal Express in Tuni Railway station, the mob attacked Tuni rural police station. Many vehicles were also torched by Kapu protestors in East Godavari district.
Four police jeeps were also set fire. When police forces stepped into control them, stones were hurled at police personnel. So far seven police constables were injured in the protests. Even the vehicles of media weren't spared by the protesters. OB Vans and TV Channel cameras were damaged by the protesters. Reportedly few mobsters have beaten camera crew as well. It's learnt that protesters have come in masks in order to hide their identity.
Meanwhile, all trains running between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada stopped at railway stations by authorities after Kapu protestors torched Ratnachal Express. Since it's extremely delicate situation, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu needs to handle carefully.
Congress leaders Pallam Raju, Vasanth Kumar, V Hanumantha Rao were seen with the Kapu protesters raising several doubts. Mr Naidu has convened an emergency meeting with officials on the situation. He had asked police officials to be tolerant on the issue as it's a sensitive matter. A thorough probe into the matter is ordered.
